Who We Are

The Bryant Stokes Neurological Research Fund (BSNRF) funds collaborative research projects aimed at improving the lives of people affected by neurological conditions, whilst at the same time strengthening neuroscience research by supporting our developing Western Australian researchers.

This program awards merit-based grants to researchers based in Western Australia, whose applications are subject to external independent review by state and national leaders.

Established in 1998, although the Neurological Research Fund has had different names and funding sources, it has been unprecedented in developing and nurturing of successful research careers in clinicians, scientists and allied health professionals, all integral in preserving health and participation in those with neurological conditions.

The fund has had a particular focus on optimising neurological research across the translational pipeline. In 2024, for the first time, the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Medicine is solely responsible for funding the BSNRF. Perron Institute continues to build capacity, enhancing alignment of partners to respond to areas of current and future need in neuroscience across Western Australia.
